Susan Grucci
Susan Grucci, raised in Brookyln, NY, had a long career as a consultant at the 92ndY. She is mainly a painter but also works in mono-printing and multi-media art. Originally focusing on large scale traditional landscapes, Grucci now creates smaller pieces by using palette knives, brushes, and objects resulting in an abstract landscape. The process of creating these works leaves her with exhilarating freedom, and confidence inspiring command. Her process with Mono-Type Printing is similar, in which she spends plentiful time adding to her original print. Collage has become a go-to medium for her. For the last five years, she started to use her own prints to add to the backdrop of her prints as well as enhancing the prints with oil sticks, gouache, enamel, graphite, pen and ink, tea, pan pastels.
