Marion Lane

Marion Lane holds an MFA from Rutgers, a BS from William Patterson University and has studied at the Art Students League and Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She has had a long and distinguished career as an artist working in a variety of media.

Lane’s talent is immediately apparent when viewing her mixed media work. She uses a variety of materials and substrates that seamlessly blend elements of sculpture, drawing and painting. Her work is neither organic nor geometric, yet balances on that precarious perfection where the two are visually united. Her ability to incorporate both metal and drawing into one integrated piece wherein one flows into the other creates a whole that is beyond the sum of its parts.

Lane has shown extensively in both solo and group shows spanning more than five decades, and has been the recipient of numerous awards, including from the Brooklyn Museum where her work is included in the Elizabeth Sackler Center for Feminist Art online database. She has also received many fellowships, both stateside and international in origin. In addition to her own creative pursuits, Lane has also worked as an educator, an adjunct instructor and a recreation therapist.
