Ann Winston Brown
Ann Winston Brown attended the Fashion Institution of Technology and New york University earning her BA and MA degrees. In 1980 she started her own handwoven clothing business. After eighteen years she retired from her clothing business and switched to painting full-time. Now she is a mixed media artist.
WInston Brown incorporates the textural aspects of weaving into her mixed media paintings. She utilizes painting, printmaking, paper, sand, and other textual elements to create layers of visual information resulting in a single multi-dimensional painting. She hopes to create a story and take her viewer through a journey with each work.
